Basic Maintenance
The Tune Up

Tune Ups

A tune-up is vital to the health of your car. Regular tune-ups help you keep your car running newer, stronger and longer.

Historically, a tune-up typically meant replacing spark plugs, spark plug wires and distributor caps (among other things, depending on the vehicle). As automotive technology progressed and cars became more sophisticated machines, "tune-ups" evolved to mean different things for different vehicles. The needs of cars, trucks and SUVs today extend beyond what was once called a traditional "tune-up."
Today, those key elements of a tune-up may not be needed to fix vehicle performance issues (like stalling, jerking, reduction in power or strange noises) that were once associated with needing a tune-up. To understand what is causing vehicle performance issues today, we start with a vehicle inspection.

VEHICLE SYMPTOMS AND DIAGNOSTICS

Frequent stalls Strange noises, including knocking and pinging

Alternator problems

Reduction in power

Vehicle jerking/rough ride

Exhaust odor

After-run (the engine coughs and chugs for several seconds after shutting off the ignition)

Sluggishness upon acceleration

Inefficient fuel economy

Warning lights, including maintenance warning light, check engine light and service indicator light

If your vehicle is not running they way it should, call Monkey's Mobile Mechanics today and let's start with a vehicle inspection.
